Located on the Eastern coast of the Indian peninsula, Chennai, the city of temples, was once called Madras in early colonial times. Its inhabitants, after taking part in religious ceremonies, go out to thank the sea and beg prosperity for their families. They gaze out over the endless ocean to where the Andaman Islands lie. It’s from here that an underwater adventure begins to explore the islands of Barren and Narcondàm, both of which rose up out of the sea depths millions of years ago and are now considered among the richest in the world for their underwater flora and fauna.
