The Valdes Peninsula

Project details

The Valdès Peninsula is the most important natural reserve in the Chubut Province. Declared a World Heritage site by Unesco in 1999, this protected area not only hosts a wide variety of fauna, but is also of enormous value from a geological point of view because of the Atlantic coastline within the area. A visit to the reserve can involve some special face to face encounters with sea-lions and elephant seals, penguins and killer whales. The Patagonian desert was once bathed by this ocean, and the presence of thousands of fossils scattered among the dunes is proof of this. Finally, a meeting with experts adds an important touch to our adventure, on land and below the sea, by providing a better knowledge of this side of the Patagonia Atlantic .
