Project details
The Red Sea, also known as the “garden of Allah”, washes the Eastern shore of Zabargad, a place with an incredible variety of landscapes. The stark and somehow hostile appearance of the coastline, volcano-tectonic in origin, is in sharp contrast to the “blossoming garden” below the water. Almost four hundred different species of coral contribute to the vivid and multi-coloured environment found on the sea bed. By tracing the history of the island and its settlers, this documentary shows both the natural wonders and the archaeological treasures in these enchanted places. A study and description of the fauna and flora, both above and below the water, are told together with a reconstruction of life at the time of the Roman Empire, the traces of which are still visible.
