Fakarava: the Colours of Polynesia

PandatariafilmFakarava: the Colours of Polynesia

Project details

A journey with a difference in the Southern Seas, departing from the Society Islands and arriving at the Tuamotus Islands, on the Fakarava Atoll. This documentary accompanies its audience through several very different and fascinating landscapes. From the high peaks of the volcanic islands of the Society Archipelago to the white beaches of the Tuamotus Islands and its simple stilt houses, and the long wonderful coral reef of madreporaria. But Fakarava’s real wealth lies in its pearl farming. For the islanders this represents the gift of “Oro”, the God of peace and fertility, who came down to earth on a rainbow to bring oysters to the Polynesians, and pearls to his beloved princess.
